FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we're asked most often about thermal imaging and drone inspection with Seniger Drone Media.

What is drone thermal imaging?

Drone thermal imaging is a method where a thermal camera mounted on a drone detects temperature differences across surfaces – such as roofs, facades, solar panels, or district heating pipes. The images reveal heat loss, faults, or damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. Seniger Drone Media (SDM) performs thermal imaging across Denmark with EU-certified drone pilots.

How much does a drone inspection with SDM cost?

The price depends on the scope of the job – such as the size of the installation or building, the number of units to be inspected, and location. Contact SDM for a no-obligation quote tailored to your specific task.

How do drones detect faults in solar panels?

A thermal camera on the drone flies systematically over the solar panels, detecting temperature deviations. Warmer spots (hotspots) can indicate defective cells, loose connections, or failed modules – faults that reduce the system's output but are difficult to spot visually. SDM delivers a report pinpointing the faults so they can be targeted for repair.

Can drone thermal imaging find heat loss in buildings?

Yes. By flying a thermal-camera drone over a roof and facade, SDM can identify where a building is losing heat – for example due to poor insulation, leaky seals, or faults in the building envelope. This provides a fast and precise overview, far more efficient than a manual inspection from the ground.

How do you find leaks in district heating pipes with a drone?

Leaking district heating pipes release heat into the surrounding ground or asphalt, which shows up as a temperature deviation on the surface via a thermal drone camera. This allows SDM to pinpoint leaks along pipe routes without digging, saving time and reducing unnecessary excavation work.

What is drone-assisted wildlife detection before harvest?

Before crops are harvested, a drone with a thermal camera can scan the field for animals – particularly fawns and other wildlife hiding in tall crops. This allows farmers to move or scare the animals away before harvesting begins, preventing them from being harmed.

Can drones be used for search and rescue (SAR)?

Yes, drones with thermal cameras can quickly scan large or hard-to-reach areas and detect heat signatures from people – even in darkness or dense vegetation. SDM supports search and rescue operations as well as firefighting efforts with drone surveillance.

How long does a drone inspection take?

It depends on the size of the job, but many inspections – such as a house roof or a smaller solar installation – can be completed in under an hour. Larger installations or longer pipe routes naturally take more time. SDM provides a time estimate along with the quote.

Is SDM certified and insured?

Yes. Seniger Drone Media has about 4 years of experience with drone operations, is an EU-certified drone operator, and is fully insured. The company is registered with CVR number 46623363.

Which areas of Denmark does SDM cover?

SDM offers drone inspection and thermal imaging across all of Denmark. Contact us to hear more about options in your area.
